Before we left Vail, Rori and I recreated some of my favorite photos, some on purpose, some by chance. We went back to my old house, and Rori took a picture of me by the bridge.

I grabbed some photos of our old house, and it was fun to see that not much had changed. Back in the day, I kept all of my belongings in the small cabinet next to the fireplace. It was still the same. The fireplace stone had been improved but was very similar.

Rori took a picture recreating one of my favorite photos of Caleb standing at the bus stop… 32 years later.

I accidentally took a picture of a spot where I was standing in a photo from 30 years ago in front of our house.

I told Rori that Caleb worked on the Zamboni, cleaning the parking lots, and we just happened to see the Zamboni… so I hopped onto it!

And as fate would have it, we walked past a hat store, and I recognized it from when I tried on hats with my dad when my mom and dad came to visit me for a weekend in 1994. The store had painted over the wooden walls, but otherwise it was almost exactly the same store 30 years later…Wild Bill’s Emporium. We spent a long time talking to the woman working there. She had climbed Grand Traverse many times. Every local in Vail has a great story!
