To honor the RIAA lawsuit against Udio, for the week of June 28th, I created albums and songs for each of my 30 newsletter categories (OpenAI, RAG, Open Source, Agents, Local Models, etc.).

The MidJourney prompts were purposefully simple. I created a rubric that was easy to copy and paste, allowing me to work quickly while evoking styles that matched each category’s theme. The prompt format was: “album art for a record titled ‘[category name]’ –chaos 30 –ar 4:3 –style raw –personalize qko3v53 –v 6.1.”

I don’t revise the prompts or the images. I try to test the “one shot” ability of MidJourney to take a request and turn it into something usable. Some of these images turned out spectacular, even if they didn’t follow my prompts perfectly (because of the chaos value and personalization settings).

I put together a quick GPT that would look at the MidJourney cover images (in bulk) and generate prompts for Udio with a genre, tempo, and style to go with the album. The GPT image-to-audio prompts were pretty great; they all matched the atmosphere of the image—solid A.

The Udio songs were okay, if a bit stereotypical, perhaps because I set them to instrumental. In hindsight, I should have included vocals. Here’s a playlist with all of the songs: https://www.udio.com/playlists/kcSCQwxtBZjbetBeG7Vxpj

But here you have it! My AI newsletter category cover art and songs for the week of June 28th, featuring the theme “The RIAA Sues Udio.”

One response to “The RIAA Sues Udio: Newsletter Category Image Song Showcase”

  1. […] This week’s theme is album cover art to mirror the big story of the RIAA’s lawsuit against Udio and Suno.  The prompt foundation is “album art for a record titled “[category name]”.  I keep it simple to see what MidJourney does with as little direction as possible. […]
