i keep hearing the same rhetoric that the US is ahead of China in AI. i don’t think that’s true, at all for several reasons. one thing i’d like to see from someone who is a native speaker in both languages is to compare SOTA chinese closed source models to SOTA english closed source models. i bet that they aren’t actually that far behind, and may actually be ahead in many ways. but we’re just not their target market
