LLMs produce incorrect answers, especially when asked for citations. This paper shows error rates are dropping. GPT-3.5 had errors in 98% of medical citations, GPT-4 had errors in 20% of cites.

My informal tests suggest combining advanced models with search likely does better.

Even without major new models (which are certainly coming), ChatGPT-4, Bing/Copilot & Bard have been getting better.

It is more evidence that even if AI development stopped with GPT-4/Gemini Ultra (it won’t), we would still have years of fast AI improvements with current models
