In honor of this week’s National Retail Federation Big Show, here are some pics I took of Ray Kurzweil from the front row of the 2011 NRF Shop.org Conference. I pitched the NRF on having Ray as the keynote that year, and to my surprise, they did it!! I’ve been a fan of Ray since his 2005 book “The Singularity Is Near“. In the book, Kurzweil predicted human-level AI in 2029, and a ‘computer singularity’ in 2045. Ray was teased mercilessly for his dream of life extension as well as the singularity. If I were him, I’d be posting “sips tea” memes.
