Testing various image-generation tools for complex prompting: “An editorial-style cartoon that shows a sculpture of Elon Musk with marble fragments all over the floor. Elon Musk stands next to the sculpture with a chisel and exclaims, ‘I’ve removed all the government waste.’”
Politics aside (Elon can take the joke, I’m sure), Ideogram did the best. Grok, Flux, and MidJourney failed miserably. Some were better at ‘looking like Elon’ but they misspelled words or left them out completely.
I can’t draw, but I can come up with pesky cartoon ideas. It’ll be interesting when everything is essentially meme-able in any style of art. I wonder how iconography and cultural taste will change over time when any style can be mimicked.
It reminds me of skeuomorphs (great word): “a derivative object that retains ornamental design cues”. A common example is when computer companies used old devices as icons. For example, Microsoft using a floppy disk for the save icon or Apple using a legal pad icon. My generation will still associate editorial cartoons and memes with certain styles and tones, but in the future I wonder how much styles become relics just as much as objects.
