“played a starcraft with 6 friends last night, it was a free for all, we added 2 ais to fill out the 8 player map. we spent the whole game fighting each other while the ai slowly took over and suddenly were too powerful and beat us all. a lesson in ai safety!” / X

In my experience, people who think this concern is minor or not commensurate with (even low likelihood of) more straightforward AI doom… just don’t mind the idea of a one world nanny state government.

But I believe it can get really bad, yes, commensurate with extinction.

Do AI Detectors Work? Students Face False Cheating Accusations – Bloomberg

“For parents who want to help their kids with a hard school concept but don’t want them to use AI directly: Show the LLM the problem your kid is stuck on and prompt: “how can I, as a parent, explain to my kid, grade N, how to solve this” and then use the advice to help tutor them” / X

“What percentage of students are you willing to falsely accuse of cheating with AI? There is a trade-off between that and detection rates for AI. At a 10% false positive rate, detectors find 80% or less of AI content. At a 1% rate most find 60% or less. Don’t trust AI detectors!

“LLMs have been quickly climbing the scale of human ability, passing tests reserved for graduate students, exceeding people on narrow tasks Yet there is no coherent intellectual job where LLMs exceed the top humans. I see many people assume this will change, for which jobs? When?

Robert Downey Jr. Bans Hollywood From Creating Digital Replica: I Will Sue

“It would be very bearish for GenAI if we already had 40% adoption rate in the general population, given the current unprofitability and low total revenue of the industry.
